Are You Sleeping?
“Lack of sleep was causing me a great deal of distress, however, after the first consultation with Dr Chris, I felt calmer and reassured that he would be able to offer me the support and help that I needed.”
The Importance Of
Sleep keeps us physically healthy, helps us perform better and has a huge impact on our wellbeing. Poor sleep has been shown to be linked to a huge range of physical, emotional and cognitive issues including:
- cardiovascular disease
- hypertension (high blood pressure)
- low mood
- feeling desperate/being ‘at wit’s end’
- memory problems
- poor concentration
In short, getting a decent night’s sleep is really important. And the good news is that there are proven effective treatments available, so we believe no one should have to put up with sleepless nights.
We can help
Insomnia is much more common than you may think, with around 1 in 3 people reporting they have experienced sleep issues in the past year and around 1 in 5 of us meeting full clinical criteria for insomnia.
Our treatment programme uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) which is the gold standard treatment for insomnia and is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the World Health Organisation (WHO). It is a brief course of treatment with research proving its effectiveness in the treatment of insomnia.
Our insomnia treatment programme (CBTi) includes:
- A thorough sleep assessment split into three stages including screening for other common sleep disorders, a detailed clinical interview and analysis of your sleep data.
- A course of CBTi treatment sessions.
What Our Clients Say
“Not understanding how to help insomnia and the fear of not sleeping is awful. I had got myself into an anxious cycle of worrying about sleep and not sleeping as a result. I had developed lots of bad habits too which were impacting on my ability to sleep. The sessions with Dr Chris James were very helpful. It was really reassuring to be told by a professional ‘expert’ in sleep matters that my body would take charge of sleep no matter what and that with a few changes to my day and night routines, my sleep would improve. I was provided with lots of tools, advice, encouragement, and support which gave me the confidence and ability to improve my sleep.”
“I contacted Dr Chris James when I was experiencing difficulties with my sleep. Lack of sleep was causing me a great deal of distress, however, after the first consultation with Dr James, I felt calmer and reassured that he would be able to offer me the support and help that I needed. Dr James provided me with strategies and practical advice which worked! And whilst sleep problems can be complex, Dr James was always encouraging, approachable and understood what I was experiencing. I would have no hesitation in contacting Dr James should I require further support in the future, he is an expert in this field.”
“I worked with Dr Chris James for a year when I was experiencing anxiety and significant problems with my sleeping. Chris provided me with outstanding help to work through these issues. Chris provided me with a calm and non-judgmental environment to work through these issues. He is very thorough and challenging where he needs to be in a very professional and supportive way. My health is much improved and Chris used regular progress measures which I found especially useful. My sleep is as good as it has ever been and the approach and techniques Chris provided were very successful for me.”
