Session-by-session monitoring & your feedback
I use session-by-session outcome monitoring in order to help closely monitor your progress from week to week. This involves completing a brief psychological measure during each appointment - this usually takes less than 3 minutes. The measure will be a well-validated questionnaire that asks you various questions about your week, in order to help assess your psychological wellbeing.
We will review your scores on this measure on a regular basis so we can chart your progress. Many people find this to be a useful and interesting part of their therapy.
I want to ensure that your therapy sessions are as useful and meaningful as possible, and so charting your progress from session-to-session also helps me to identify early on any potential issues within therapy so that they can be discussed and hopefully resolved as soon as possible.
I feel that therapists owe it to their clients to take an active interest in the effectiveness of their therapy. We never stop learning and always have the potential to broaden our understanding and further develop our skills - two small ways in which we can do this are through routinely asking for feedback from you, our clients, and by closely monitoring progress using objective psychological measures.
