Men's mental health

How often have you heard the phrase "Man up" or "Grow a pair"..? Perhaps you've tried to talk to your friends about how you're feeling and they've laughed it off and told you to just get on with things and "Be a man", or words to that effect.

Sadly, there is still a lot of stigma around men talking about their worries and problems, and seeking help for mental health difficulties. As a result, men are far less likely to speak to friend or professionals about their concerns, and often end up trying to cope with things on their own. Men are more likely to ignore, deny or repress their mental health problems.

Thankfully, things are starting to change and these barriers are gradually being broken down. Videos like this are helping to break down the stigma around men's mental health issues.

The reality is, despite what society might expect of us, men experience mental health issues too. Men often face the same difficulties, but are made to feel that talking about it isn't ok, 'it's not what men do'.
